A Guide to Silk Pillows

Buying a silk pillow is pretty simple… the first sort are gorgeously filled with 100% pure silk which tends to be flatter and firmer than the second sort, which have a polyester core for a more soft and bouncy feel. The main reason to have a silk pillow at all in my experience, is that it keeps your head beautifully cool all through the night.

What sort of sleeper are you…?

So for purists, the firmer, flatter 100% pure silk pillow will give good neck support and is for you if you sleep on your front, or want to take full advantage of silk’s natural hypoallergenic properties for allergies and asthma etc. If you have back or neck problems, it is definitely worth making the transition south from a big soft pillow, even if it feels a little less comforting to start. The ones I love are from Jasmine silk in London. They make them in three basic sizes: King sizeStandardBoudoir  as well as a large square and one for a cot or travel.

The silk/synthetic mix filled pillow will suit you if you sleep on your back or side and prefer a higher, bouncier pillow. In the ones I list from Jasmine Silk in London, it is only the core which is made of synthetic silk. Perfect for enjoying the benefits of laying your head on silk, as the synthetic part is wrapped up inside layers of pure silk. They come in just standard size

This is the basis for beautiful sleep, along with a silk-filled quilt for nights in heaven…
